Should a 2001 1.9TDi (115) be able to rev above at 3,500 ?

My car was a company vehicle and I wonderd if a rev limiter was fitted.

As anyone heard of a rev limiter being fitted ?

...sounds like it has encountered a fault and put its self into "limp mode"....or "get you home mode". The reason for this can only be read by Vag-com or similar. A rev limiter seems very unlikely as this would be a little dangerous in an overtaking situation.

I thought the 1.9 PD tdi had a rev limiter which cut in just above 4k - perhaps 4.3k

Yep that sounds about right, if it didn't have a limiter the MOT smoke test would destroy the engine!

Electronic rev limit is set about 5500 rpm. 3500 rpm suggests a MAF sensor fault to me.
