Guest iharrison9 Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 Should a 2001 1.9TDi (115) be able to rev above at 3,500 ? My car was a company vehicle and I wonderd if a rev limiter was fitted. As anyone heard of a rev limiter being fitted ? Quote
paulmpaciorek Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 ...sounds like it has encountered a fault and put its self into "limp mode"....or "get you home mode". The reason for this can only be read by Vag-com or similar. A rev limiter seems very unlikely as this would be a little dangerous in an overtaking situation. Paul Quote
NikpV Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 I thought the 1.9 PD tdi had a rev limiter which cut in just above 4k - perhaps 4.3k Quote
johnb80 Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 Yep that sounds about right, if it didn't have a limiter the MOT smoke test would destroy the engine! Regards - JB Quote
paulmpaciorek Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 ...yes but no but yes but no...it wouldnt be limited to 3,500 rpm......well mine isnt  .....but when the maf was naf it did struggle..... Quote
Masked Marauder Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 Mine revs to about 5K I think.... Quote
seatkid Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 Electronic rev limit is set about 5500 rpm. 3500 rpm suggests a MAF sensor fault to me. Quote
